On Saturday April 10th 2010, shops and restaurants along historic Wall Street in downtown Asheville will band together to support Helpmate, our local domestic violence agency. Participating businesses, including Early Girl Eatery, Spellbound Children’s Bookshop, Purl’s Yarn Emporium, The Market Place Restaurant, Beads and Beyond, Fired Up! Creative Lounge, and others will donate a percentage of sales for the day to fund Helpmate’s programs.
The April 10th event, dubbed emPower Shopping, is a fun, easy way for all of us to help raise awareness about domestic violence and raise funds for a vital community resource by doing something many of us would be doing on a Saturday anyway: eating and shopping! If you’re meeting a friend for lunch, having a day out with the kids, a date night, or looking for gifts for yourself or others, just head to Wall Street on Saturday April 10th and have a great time supporting Helpmate in its work to eliminate abuse and fear in our community.
A list of participating businesses and information about Helpmate are on the event website at www.emPowerShopping.org.
