Nancy will conduct a Creating Comics workshop for kids and adults (RSVPs appreciated). Please be here no later than 2:15 to participate in the workshop. We expect the workshop to last approximately 30 minutes.

After the comics workshop, Nancy will also give a talk about her experiences as a female CEO in the comics industry. She has been profiled in Fortune magazine. As a former teacher and a female CEO, Miss Silberkleit’s speaking platform is an inspiration to women who want to succeed in business and teachers who want to empower students to be self motivators and creators.

This will be really fun event for comics fans of all ages. Nancy will be happy to sign Archie books that are purchased at this event.

Fathers Day Story Time

Bring your father to story time with you! We’ll play some fun games and share our favorite stories featuring Dear Old Dad.

Do you like to dress up? Does your father have an outfit that is just so Dad–a favorite hat, tie, shirt? Guess what: Everyone who comes dressed as their dad gets a prize! (If you match, you and Dad will both get a prize!)

ASHEVILLE WORDFEST is Asheville’s annual free poetry festival in downtown Asheville. This year’s festival features events taking place May 3 – May 8 at various venues around town.

On Saturday, May 7th at 10 am Spellbound is proud to once again be hosting WordFest’s children’s poetry performance. This year’s performer is Dan Dutterer.

Dan offers performance poetry to children of all ages through Poetic Justice.  He is focused on educating and entertaining students by showing them what poetry has to offer, through the magic of theatre and live performance.

Dan has offered his unique take on poetry in many places, such as the YWCA, Books-a-Million, the FENCE Foothills Storytelling Festival, Barnes & Noble, Dickens in the Village, the Montford Arts Festival, and schools across the southeast.

A Poetic Justice performance introduces students of any age to what the words on the page are really about and involves them in bringing poetry to life, opening kids’ minds with highly interactive shows. They can retain more while having FUN, as well as participating and observing.

Join us on Saturday May 7th for a one-of-a-kind poetry experience. Suitable for all ages and FREE. Please plan to arrive no later than 10 minutes after the event start time so that you and your family can enjoy the entire show.

We’re kicking off our poetry celebration on Saturday, April 2nd with a lulu of a reading by local poet Jethro Clayton Waters (there may be handstands involved), in addition to free activities and give-aways (plus snacks).
