Saturday September 10th 9:00 a.m. to noon
A fun introduction to coding for kids who have never tried their hand at it or who have done a little bit in school and would like to learn more. The workshop is led by Lisa Sellers, who taught coding at UNCA’s Super Saturday program.
The instructor will incorporate the popular graphic novel Secret Coders by Gene Luen Yang in the discussion, as it lays out the basics of binary code and Logo in a fun and accessible way. Specifically, we’ll learn about programming loops and subroutines. Kids do not need to read this book before the class; a copy of it will be included in the workshop fee.
- This class is for ages 8 to 13 only.
- Maximum class size is 10 kids.
- Cost is $35 per child. Your space is not reserved until you have paid in full.
- Doors will open at the store at 8:45 for workshop attendees. Please drop off your child between 8:45 and 8:55 so we can start promptly at 900. Feel free to send a snack for mid-morning break. Lunch will not be provided.
