For the safety of both, please supervise your children closely.
You will see this sign posted around our store. Parents or other adults accompanying children in the store are asked to remember that you are responsible for any damages. (In other words, if an item is bent, torn, stained, etc. by you or the child you are accompanying, it is your responsibility to pay for the item.) Please supervise children closely, especially if they are looking through delicate books like pop-ups or “-ology” type novelty books. Just like you, other customers expect the items they buy to be in new condition. If it is damaged, we cannot sell it and have lost money. We appreciate your cooperation!
Returns and Exchanges
Returns or exhanges must be made within thirty (30) days of original purchase and must be accompanied by a receipt. Management reserves the right to refuse a return or exchange if the policy is being abused (excessive returns or exchanges by the same customer).
Special Orders
We are happy to place special orders for any book that is not currently in stock. We only stock books for and about kids, but we special order all kinds of books for our customers. Special orders must be pre-paid unless approved by the manager.
Free shipping is available for most special orders if you choose to pick up your book in the store and a one to two week wait is acceptable. (This way we can include your special order along with a larger re-stocking order.) Free shipping is not available for out-of-print books, because we have to order those individually from independent dealers of collectible books. We will pass along the charges we have to pay, but we will not charge you a service fee for our time or effort.

Discounts
Spellbound offers an Educator’s Discount to all full-time teachers and media center staff at local schools. This discount is 10% off all book purchases (except Vintage/Collectibles). To be eligible for this discount, please provide proof of current employment in the form of a recent pay stub or current employee ID card.
For purchases made by schools, public libraries, and certain non-profit organizations, we offer a discount of 20% off book purchases for orders that are invoiced directly to that school or institution, or paid for with a check or credit card issued to that institution.
The BookWorm Club
Spellbound’s frequent buyer program, The Bookworm Club, is free to join and does not require you to carry around a card. Just let us put your name and phone number (to help us look up your account) into our system, and mention that you are a member every time you check out. You are invited to join our mailing list to be updated on new releases and special events, but it’s not required.
The register will track your purchases, and after ten (10) book purchases you will receive a discount on your eleventh book. That discount will equal ten percent of what you’ve spent so far. So if you bought ten books that totalled $160 in value, on your eleventh purchase you’ll get a discount of $16! Or if your cumulative purchases totalled $200, you’ll get a $20 discount! After your discount is applied, the count will re-set. Only qualifying purchases are counted toward your discount. Vintage/Collectible books and non-book items do not qualify. All regularly priced new and regular used books qualify.
Used Book Policy
Recycle Your Old Books by Trading Them in for Store Credit!
How our used book trade in works: If you have children’s books (for babies, teens, or any age in between) that your kids are no longer interested in keeping, bring them to Spellbound for store credit. Whether it’s one book or a sack full, we’ll be happy to look at them and make you an offer. Books in really good condition will get the best offers. If they are badly torn, marked in (other than a personal inscription in the front or back), or have damaged spines we may not be able to take them. We don’t pay cash, but if we take your books we’ll give you store credit that you can use to purchase other used books (except the very old collectible books in the Vintage section, which are clearly separated).
As of June 1, 2009 used book credit is good for the purchase of used books only. This is a change to our previous policy, which allowed customers to purchase anything in the store with used book credit. We will honor our old policy until the end of May, 2009.
In another change to the procedure, credit no longer has to be used the same day. We will issue you a dated receipt showing your credit, and you will have 30 days to redeem that credit. Credit receipts presented more than 30 days after date of issue will not be honored. You must keep track of the receipt and present it when you want to spend your credit. Otherwise there will be no record of it. We cannot be responsible for lost receipts. Our selection of used books changes frequently, so check back often!
