Spellbound

Are you well past the point of being mistaken for a “young adult,” yet frequenting the Young Adult sections of your local bookstores and libraries? You’re not alone!  So don’t sit home alone thinking you’re the only one out there who appreciates the gems to be found in the YA section. Come join our club!
 
Beginning in February, Spellbound will host a monthly gathering for adults to read and discuss YA books. The inaugural meeting will be Sunday, February 7th from 4 to 5pm.
 
No need to sign up– just read the monthly selection and show up with an opinion. February’s selection is Graceling, by Kristin Cashore. It’s available in paperback  at Spellbound for 20% off ($7.99 instead of $9.99).

So that we’re all on the same page: by “adults,” we mean people 18 and up.  And by “YA” or “Young Adult” books, we mean books that were written and marketed for ages 14 (or even 16) and up; we do not consider 10-year-olds young adults.

New Story Time Offerings Beginning January 19, 2010
 
Preschool   Story Time Tuesdays at 10:30am 
School Age  Story Time Tuesdays 3:30pm
 
Bring your budding bookworms to our preschool story time, now at a different day and time and now offered weekly!  Free stories and activities geared to kids 3 to 5 years old. Lasts 20 to 30 minutes, depending on how wiggly the little bookworms get.
 
For bigger kids, we’re adding a new story time with longer stories geared to kids 5 to 7 years old. Free. Should last approximately 30 minutes. (Please allow time for parking when setting out. The Wall Street Parking Garage is just a few doors down and free for the first hour most days.)
 
No need to call ahead unless you’re bringing a large group. We’re always happy to accommodate large groups with a little notice, and we can schedule special story times for your organization or group. Just call Leslie at 828-232-2228 or email us for more info.
